NORTH AMERICAN FINALS
Each year, XP League Macomb+Troy select teams of our top individual players to compete at our North American Finals tournament.
Players qualify for a team by participating during the season, displaying in-game skills, and perfecting their game. These “super teams” will represent our hometown divisions at the annual North American Regionals event.
North American Regionals is live-streamed for the world audience.
The top 24 Fortnite, top 8 Overwatch, top 8 Rocket League, top 8 Valorant, and top 8 Apex Legends teams will be invited to participate in the North American Finals, a live event for world glory!
North American Regionals (Regionals) is the major qualifying event for North American Finals (NAFs). 2023 Regionals is scheduled for March 20 to April 2, 2023.
Teams competing in Regionals will have the opportunity to qualify for NAFs that are being held in Orlando, FL at Full Sail University on 23-25 June.
The following is a general guide for the execution of Regionals and does not replace any established rules or procedures for regular match execution.
Parent / Player registration will open on March 1, 2023, and will close on March 15, 2023, at 5 PM. All parents and players must submit their 2023 XP League Regional and North American Finals Application by this date.
Team registrations (for XP League locations) for Regionals will open on March 1, 2023, and will close on March 17, 2023. Requirements for registering teams and players for Regionals:
Player(s) must be registered players in XP League competing in the Spring Split, and compete in the Summer Split for NAF, and be on a monthly subscription with XP League Macomb + Troy (in competitive split play, club play, etc.).
Player(s) must meet the XP League age requirements as defined in the General Rules.
The lower age limit is at the discretion of the league location and with permission from the parent/guardian of the player. However, it is recommended for league play that players be at least 8 years old.
The upper age limit starting Summer 2022 is 17 years of age. To further clarify the NAFs age requirement: If a player was 17 years of age anytime after 2022 NAFs and/or before 2023 NAFs, they are eligible to play on an XP League team, and are eligible for Regional and NAFs.
Regionals brackets will be created in LeagueSpot and locations will be able to submit their teams into their game specific groups. All teams must have their Epic ID's (where appropriate) and Discord ID's in LeagueSpot.
General Process Overview. 1) Player and Parents fill out the Regionals Application indicating their interest to play and travel to Florida (both required). 2) Coaches collect all players interested and formulate teams. 3) Parents accept or reject the teams invitation. 4) Players compete with their Regionals / NAF designated team.
Season Registration Requirement. Registration in our Spring and Summer Split (Season) is required to participate in the North American Regionals (Regionals) and North American Finals (Nationals).
Purpose: The purpose of the North American Regional Tournament is to qualify for our North American Finals in Orlando, Florida on June 22-26.
Participation is Optional. Regionals are optional and players can play after receiving a location invitation only. Coaches and staff will select players from our pool of interested players, and they will be placed on teams to compete.
Player Commitment. The invitation is based on players' commitment to attend Nationals. Only players that are intending to attend NAF, an in-person event in Florida, can be invited to play in Regionals.
Existing Rosters. A player on an existing team may be placed with players from another team for Nationals. New teams will compete in Regionals. Existing team rosters may change.
Player Designation. When receiving an invitation to play for Regionals (and Nationals), a player will be designated as either a Starter (guaranteed to play at Regionals and Nationals) or as an Alternate. Parents are not required to accept the invitation.
Starters are considered to be our primary team players. Coaches can guarantee that the player will play at Regionals.
Alternates are considered to be key members of a team, but they are not guaranteed to play. If a player is sick, cannot play, cannot travel, an alternate will be selected to fill in as a Starter. Being an alternate does not mean they won't play. Their play-time will be at the discretion of the League Commissioners and Coaches. It will be based on our competition, our potential tournament placement, and other factors. We cannot guarantee that all Alternates will play.
March 15, 2023 5 pm. The 2023 XP League Regional and North American Finals Application is due. Parents must fill this out. Click below to register.

Feb 27 - May 14, 2023. Spring Season.

To qualify for Nationals, the Fortnite teams must finish in the top 24 in Regionals.
Apex Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Valorant and must finish in the top 8. Only those teams will qualify for the North American Finals tournament.
When formulating our teams, XP League Macomb + Troy is restricted on the number of players per team. Each XP League Macomb + Troy team is unique. We are allowed to submit up to 4 teams per title as follows:
Fortnite - 3 starters + 2 alternates.
Overwatch 2 - 5 starters + 2 alternates.
Valorant - 5 Starters + 2 alternates.
Rocket League - 3 Starters + 2 alternates.
Apex Legends - 4 Starters + 2 alternate.
When receiving an invitation to play for Regionals and Nationals, a player will be designated as either a Starter or an Alternate.
Starters are considered to be our primary team players. Coaches can guarantee that the player will play at Regionals and Nationals.
Alternates are considered to be key members of a team, but they are not guaranteed to play. If a Starter player is sick, cannot play, cannot travel, an alternate will be selected to fill in as a Starter. Being an Alternate does not mean they won't play. Their play-time will be at the discretion of the League Commissioners and Coaches. It will be based on our competition, our potential tournament placement, and other factors. We cannot guarantee that all Alternates will play.
A players' status as Starter or Alternate may change if players unexpectedly drop or join.
Parents are not required to accept the invitation. Refunds will be issued if parents reject the invitation prior to the Regional's application deadline.
Players and Alternates are part of the official team and therefore will receive everything the team receives, which may include prizes, trophies, badges, lanyards, jerseys, t-shirts, pictures, and whatever else is announced. This is not an official listing of prize items.

For games that have a high number of teams registered (>16), they will be played in group play and qualified into a single elimination bracket.
For games with <16 registered teams, double elimination bracket, no group stage.
If group play and odd number of teams (i.e. 17 teams), highest seeded team(s) will receive a bye into elimination bracket
For battle royale games, qualification heats will be run to determine teams invited to NAFs
Seeding for group placement, double elimination bracket, qualification heats will be based on XP Points earned over Fall and Winter Splits (more details on seeding below)
Group play : 4 teams in each group, each team plays other teams once each (3 matches)
Qualification out of the Group Stage:
The top two teams from each group will advance to a single elimination bracket, seeding will be based on placement in group stage
For tie-breakers, point differential during matches will be used
As stated above, seeding will be based on XP Points earned in the current XP Points Season up to the end of Winter Split (we will not count any points earned during Spring Split play)
Teams without XP Points for Fall or Winter Split will be seeded from the bottom up in reverse order of registration date (last team registered will get the bottom seed)
Placement in Groups:
Based on Seeding, teams will be placed in groups in descending order and in snake format
Some considerations (if possible and appropriate) will be made when seeding into groups, such as 1) Teams representing same location 2) Time-zones and regions (i.e. not putting all Canadian teams in one group)
Fortnite seeding for Qualification Heats will be similar to above for heats 1 through 4 (approximately 30 teams in each heat)
Fortnite teams will shift heat assignments for Qualification Heats 5 through 8 to maximize the amount of different teams played against.
For games with no XP points to use for seeding (i.e. LOL), a seed drawing will be conducted prior to Regionals to determine seeding assignments.
APEX can be played in either Battle Royale or Arenas (brackets).
Dependent on # teams registered will determine format for Regionals and NAFs.
If 16 or fewer teams entered, APEX will run as a double elimination bracket, top 8 teams invited to NAFs.
If 16 to 24 teams, APEX will run groups and single elimination, top 8 teams invited to NAFs.
If >24 teams, APEX will run Battle Royale Qualification Heats, top 16 teams invited to NAFs.
HQ will finalize APEX plan as teams are registered for Regionals.
Server region rotation is TBD.
There are 8 qualification heats (8 heats is based on expected 120 registered teams, 30 teams per heat).
Number of heats will be adjusted dependent on teams registered.
Each team will play in two heats, one on 25 March and one on April 1.
Each heat will be best 2 of 3 scores - 3 drops per heat, keep best 2 scores for a cumulative score for that heat.
The two qualification heat scores are added for total qualification points.
